The Sega SG-1000 was Sega’s first home console and marked the company’s entry into the home gaming market.

It was released on the same day as Nintendo’s Famicom in Japan, beginning a rivalry that would shape the video game industry.

Description & Screenshots

The SG-1000 featured simple hardware similar to early arcade machines and supported cartridge-based games. Although technically modest, it laid the foundation for Sega’s later systems like the Master System.

Popular titles included Congo Bongo, Girl’s Garden, and Champion Boxing, many inspired by Sega arcade games.
