The VMU (Visual Memory Unit) was Sega’s innovative memory card for the Dreamcast console, featuring its own screen, buttons, and sound.
It could be removed from the controller and used as a mini handheld device for simple games and interactive features.

The VMU stored save data for Dreamcast games and enabled unique features such as showing stats, maps, or characters outside the main game. Titles like Sonic Adventure and Skies of Arcadia made special use of the VMU’s display.
